Eight Doctors Cut from NUMC Staff

The Nassau University Medical Center has laid off eight doctors as part of a budget cutting plan. A hospital spokeswoman says the facility is trying to eliminate $32 million --m hoping to balance its budget.Spokeswoman Shelley Lotenberg says eliminating the eight physicians jobs will save about $1 million. She says more layoffs may follow.The Nassau University Medical Center has a $492 million budget for this year. The hospital says it needs more state aid to balance that budget.

I'm not one of the "eight" officially. However, my boss gave my clinics to the doctor she had to lay off. So, I'm OUT. One month ago I closed my practice, and now this.
